McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing Inc. is rolling out its proprietary Next Generation (NGEN) compressed natural gas (CNG) system technology beyond its initial footprint in the refuse and concrete mixer truck sectors to include a full range of heavy-duty vehicle applications.
The company says more than 5,000 NGEN CNG systems have been installed on refuse and mixer trucks nationwide to date.
‘We've applied that expertise to engineer alternative fuel solutions for commercial vehicle fleets of all types,’ says Brad Nelson, parent company Oshkosh Corp.'s senior vice president and president of its commercial business segment.
The key platforms for NGEN market expansion are within the heavy-duty segment: over-the-road trucking, construction, delivery and other fleets. The company's existing national service network will support CNG system installations for existing and new customers, whether on brand-new trucks or on retrofit applications.
‘McNeilus engineers a variety of mounting options and fuel tank capacities.’ Nelson explains, noting that the NFPA-52-compliant systems feature Type 4 CNG tanks. ‘New configurations are constantly in development to respond to this quickly growing market.’
Additionally, NGEN CNG systems are backed by a two-year standard warranty, with an optional extended warranty.
