Luxfer Gas Cylinders says Oklahoma-based vehicle conversion firm Heartland Energy Options is taking delivery of Luxfer's first order of G-Stor Go compressed natural gas (CNG) cylinders.

These Type 4 CNG tanks are manufactured in Riverside, Calif., using a ‘proprietary aluminum boss and a seamless, high-density polymer liner fully wrapped with aerospace-grade carbon fiber in an epoxy matrix,’ according to Luxfer.

Heartland, which runs conversion centers in Oklahoma City and Elk City, will be using the 22-inch-diameter variation of the G-Stor Go cylinders. The company is a Ford Motor Co. Qualified Vehicle Modifier (QVM), working primarily on bi-fuel CNG conversions of Ford F-Series full-size pickup trucks.

‘Luxfer was able to provide us the high-quality cylinders we needed in a very short time,’ says Justin Steckman, Heartland's general manager.

Luxfer notes that it recently expanded its Type 4 product line to include CNG cylinders up to 26 inches in diameter in various lengths, including cylinders for Class 8 heavy-duty trucks.
