Laclede Group Unveils Inaugural Spire CNG Station

The Laclede Group Inc. has opened the first compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling station under its new Spire brand: a fast-fill facility located near Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.

Laclede Group and Siemens announced the Spire business line in February 2013, saying that it would be offering not only CNG station development services, but also financing and O&M offerings. Laclede has had natural gas vehicles in its fleet for about 30 years, and the company built its first CNG station more than a decade ago.

The new public-access St. Louis station will be serving an initial volume of about 160 NGVs from various fleets. The retail price of CNG at the facility, which is open 24 hours a day, is less than $2.00/GGE.

The station is located near I-70, at Cypress Rd. in the Super Park Lot C facility.
