Convenience store chain Kwik Trip Inc. opened its latest compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling facility this week in New Berlin, Wis. This is the company's 12th CNG station in Wisconsin, joining five Kwik Trip CNG sites in Minnesota and one in Iowa.
CNG is retailing for $1.79/GGE at the new station.
This facility, located at 15700 W. Small Rd., is equipped with a compression system (including dual compressors to ensure system redundancy) from ANGI Energy Systems and 100 GGE of on-site CNG storage, also from ANGI. This equipment produces 8-10 GGE per minute. Two dual-hose Kraus/Gilbarco dispensers are also at the facility, located under the diesel canopy.
Kwik Trip, which operates more than 400 c-stores in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa, plans to expand CNG availability throughout its current network of stores, as well as to build new stations – for instance, three additional Kwik Trip CNG stations are set to open before the end of this year.
