Kane Is Able Inc., a logistics and heavy-duty transportation services firm, is deploying seven new compressed natural gas (CNG) Volvo VNL daycab trucks that will operate out of KANE's campus in Scranton, Pa.
These Class 8 trucks, which will be built at Volvo Trucks' plant in Dublin, Va., feature the 11.9-liter ISX12 G natural gas engine from Cummins Westport Inc. Volvo estimates the truck's driving range to be about 425 miles between fuel stops.
‘Volvo Trucks is an acknowledged industry leader in natural gas-powered vehicle technology,’ says Pete Westermann, president and CEO of KANE. Adding these natural gas trucks to our fleet makes good fiscal and environmental sense.’
Volvo is on schedule to deliver the new CNG trucks to KANE by August.
KANE currently operates a fleet of more than 200 vehicles and 800 trailers across the U.S., along with 21 distribution/warehouse centers. The company's customers include Kimberly-Clark, PepsiCo, Sam's Club, Kraft and Procter & Gamble.
