Isuzu Expediting Alternative Fuel Conversions For Dealers

0

Isuzu Commercial Truck of America Inc. (ICTA) has announced a new ‘ship-thru’ process that it says will enable Isuzu dealers to more quickly convert or modify gasoline-powered NPR-HD trucks to alternative fuels for their customers.

Isuzu dealers can now select the ship-thru option to indicate they have arranged to have newly ordered trucks modified at one of two independent modification centers near the trucks' Charlotte, Mich., assembly plant: Utilimaster Inc. offers compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas conversions at the Spartan Motors Inc. campus in Charlotte, Mich., and IMPCO Technologies Inc. offers CNG conversions at its facility in Union City, Ind.

Following the modification, the center will return the trucks to ICTA, which will then transport them to the dealers that ordered the units. According to ICTA, this new process will eliminate unnecessary dealer-incurred transportation expenses and shorten the time necessary to obtain alternative fuel conversions.
