Indiana Utility Seeking Regulatory Approval To Establish LNG Fuel Subsidiary

Citizens Energy Group, an energy company that serves more than a quarter-million customers in Marion County, Ind., is looking to establish a subsidiary that will focus on providing liquefied natural gas (LNG) for transportation and industrial applications.

The company, which filed paperwork with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission this week, says the new business will market and sell LNG mainly to heavy-duty vehicle fleets and organizations that require LNG for off-road applications such as drilling rigs, rail and marine vessels.

‘With this step, we are confident that Citizens Energy Group and Indiana will become the Midwest's leading alternative fuel exporter,’ comments company president and CEO Carey Lykins.

Citizens Energy Group is currently performing engineering studies in order to determine how to best expand its LNG production capabilities.
