Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide Inc., a company specializing in alternative fuel systems for automotive applications, says orders for its compressed natural gas (CNG) systems increased nearly four-fold during the year-to-date period ending July 31, compared to figures seen during the same period last year.
The company says the orders came from natural gas vehicle (NGV) system integrators and system developers looking to take advantage of Quantum's ultra-lightweight carbon composite CNG storage tanks. These tanks are used in applications ranging from Class 1 to Class 8 natural gas trucks.
In addition to its CNG products, which are designed to maximize on-board fuel storage capacity and increase driving range, Quantum also offers hybrid/electric and hydrogen fuel systems and components. The company is based in Irvine, Calif.
