Testing and certification organization CSA has established a new service offering to test and certify electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) for use in Canada.
The program tests products against interim Canadian requirements for charging-circuit interrupting devices and line-isolation monitors for use in ESVE, as well as equipment for EVs with inputs and outputs rated 600 V or less.
The first company to receive a certification under the program is AddEnergie of Quebec for its electric vehicle and hybrid plug-in charging station. Testing and certification for the AddEnergie plug-in charging stations served as a pilot project to refine the needs of the program for the new technology, CSA says.
An official standard for EVSE is scheduled for release in 2012, the group adds.
