Gunnison County commissioners have sent a letter to the Colorado Energy Office (CEO) supporting a grant application for a compressed natural gas (CNG) station proposed in the county.
According to a Crested Butte News report, developer Trillium CNG has applied for a grant with the CEO to help fund the planned public-access station. The agency recently launched a new request for applications under the ALT Fuels Colorado program, which will provide the lesser of 80% of the total station equipment cost or $500,000 to each approved project.
The report says the commissioners wrote in their letter that the new CNG station would allow the county to switch its fleet to CNG, as well as make the alternative fuel more accessible in the region.
