Cleveland School District Switching to Propane Autogas Buses

0

Blue Bird Corp. and ROUSH Cleantech have teamed up to provide 49 propane autogas school buses for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.

Starting in the 2014-2015 school year, Cleveland Schools' 12- to 13-year-old diesel buses will be replaced with Blue Bird's Propane Vision buses, equipped with ROUSH's propane autogas fuel system.

While the school district currently estimates about $50,000 in electrical costs annually for powering block heaters to start their diesel buses in cold weather, the new buses will be able to start up in temperatures as low as -40 degrees F.

The school district, which fuels all its buses at the bus depot, currently is adding an on-site autogas fueling station.
