Clean Energy Notches Wins in CNG Facilities Modification

Clean Energy Fuels Corp., a major provider of refueling infrastructure for natural gas vehicles, says Hillsborough County Area Regional Transit in Tampa, Fla., has selected the company to fulfill a facilities modification and repair contract to modify two garages to accommodate natural gas vehicles (NGVs).

The contract also includes a five-year operations and maintenance agreement between the transit agency and Clean Energy, which recently debuted its new Facilities Modification Services business unit. The company says this group has ‘consulted with approximately 100 customers on code requirements and provided 55 site assessment reports detailing required building modifications, design and construction services and associated costs for upgrading facilities.’

As detailed in Clean Energy's latest ‘The Road to Natural Gas’ report, the Hillsborough County Area Regional Transit contract coincides with the organization's plans to build and operate a new compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station for the transit fleet. That station will be able to accommodate the county's fleet of 250 natural gas powered buses.

The report also highlights other Clean Energy developments in the transit space, including a new agreement with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation
Authority to build and operate an additional CNG fueling station.
