Clean Diesel Technologies Inc. says the California Air Resources Board (CARB) has approved the company's ECS Purifilter emissions-reduction product to now include larger control devices used in heavy-duty on-road vehicle engines up to 16 L and 625 hp.
The CARB Truck and Bus Regulation applies to a variety of diesel-fueled trucks and buses. For heavier vehicles, the regulation mandates that all 1996 through 2006 diesel trucks in Class 7 and Class 8 be retrofitted with diesel particulate filters to meet state emission standards. The ECS Purifilter is aimed at this market segment.
Clean Diesel Technologies estimates that the regulation will require more than 100,000 heavy-duty diesel trucks to undergo replacements or retrofits.
