Kwik Trip Inc., which operates more than 350 convenience stores and retail fueling locations in the Midwest, has debuted compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling capability at a store in Owatonna, Minn.
Owatonna People's Press was on hand yesterday for the grand opening, which took place at 46th St. NW in the city. The price of CNG at the station is $1.79/GGE. Kwik Trip operates more than a half-dozen other CNG refueling locations in Wisconsin and Minnesota, and plans call for more than 20 additional stations (including some in Iowa) to come online by the end of this year.
Owatonna Public Utilities is supplying the natural gas at the new site, and the company itself has begun converting some of its fleet to run on natural gas. Kwik Trip has also shifted to natural gas vehicles for its fleet, with 30 currently deployed.
