Toyota has named British Gas as its preferred supplier of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the U.K., complementing the introduction of the new Prius Plug-in Hybrid into the market in 2012.
British Gas says Toyota fleet/business customers and private buyers will have access to ‘a range of products and services for safe, convenient and efficient vehicle recharging.’ For example, installation options include a dedicated circuit with a three-pin socket, costing from £275, and a purpose-designed charging unit, priced from £799.
For business customers, offerings will include both post- and wall-mounted charging points with double sockets. These units can be engineered to deliver charging from 3 kW to 43 kW.
The companies note that British Gas' Home Electrical Care three-year protection package is available for all charging units. The program includes unlimited call-outs per contract year for electrical repairs, including parts and labor.
