Pennsylvania-based CNG One Source Inc. has acquired Emission Solutions Inc. (ESI), a company that focuses on natural gas vehicle (NGV) technology for medium- and heavy-duty trucks.
ESI filed for bankruptcy in September 2012, and investment banker Equity Partners CRB began looking for a buyer for the company early this year. Among ESI's main offerings is the Phoenix NG, a 7.6-liter dedicated natural gas engine based off the Navistar DT466E/Maxx Force DT platform that can run on either compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG).
CNG One Source plans to move ESI's operations to Erie, Pa., and work with OEMs on new natural gas engines. The company will also draw upon ESI capabilities to handle repowering projects of existing fleet vehicles.
‘The purchase of ESI will allow CNG One Source to further develop the industry for medium- and heavy-duty natural gas vehicles,’ says Karen Teslovich, the company's presdient. ‘Cummins Westport and, now, CNG One Source will be able to offer multiple engine types for consumers to operate their vehicles on a dedicated natural gas platform.’
