Ballard Power Systems and Azure Hydrogen Corp. say they are working together to begin the development process for hydrogen fuel cell transit buses, mainly for the Chinese market.
Azure's plans include Ballard's supply of engineering services, fuel cell stacks and components. The companies' non-binding MOU will likely transition into a full contract in the coming months, but Azure has already invested $1 million in an up-front payment to Ballard.
‘The market in China for clean technology solutions, such as fuel cells, is very large,’ says Grand Mao, chairman of Azure. ‘We are keen to expand our relationship with Ballard, a world-leading fuel cell company, into motive power applications.’
