ampCNG – the newly rebranded AMP Americas – is working with trucking and logistics firm Venture Logistics to develop public-access compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling infrastructure in Lafayette, Ind.
The anchor fleet of the new station will be Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc. (SIA), the subsidiary of Fuji Heavy Industries that handles Subaru vehicle production in North America. SIA has tapped Venture Logistics to coordinate the deployment of 42 CNG-powered Class 8 tractors – Freightliner and Kenworth trucks that use Cummins Westport ISX12 G engines – for its fleet.
The new CNG refueling facility will be located at an existing Super Pantry Travel Center at 6533 State Rd. 38 E. More than $2.4 million will be invested to upgrade the site, which will have a pair of dual-hose fast-fill dispensers. ampTrillium, a joint venture between ampCNG and Trillium CNG, will build the facility.
The station is scheduled to be online by the end of March 2014.
