Jacksonville, Fla.-based Advanced Disposal Services Inc., one of the country's largest privately owned refuse and recycling companies, broke ground this week on its first compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station.
The time-fill station, located in Ball Ground, Ga., is being developed by Vocational Energy. The site will have the capacity to fuel up to 95 natural gas vehicles in 10 hours, and Advanced Disposal has already contracted to purchase 27 NGVs.
‘We're always looking for ways to green our fleet and to be more environmentally efficient,’ says Katrine Strickland, marketing manager of Advanced Disposal. ‘It just made sense from all angles.’
The company, which manages a fleet of 900 trucks, notes that the Ball Ground station is just the first that Advanced Disposal plans on building in the Southeast.
