McNeilus Companies Inc. is supplying 30 compressed natural gas (CNG) Oshkosh S-Series front-discharge ready-mix trucks to Silvi Group Companies, a construction-materials firm based in Pennsylvania.
These heavy-duty units are plumbed with CNC-formed lines, o-ring face seal fittings and high-pressure hoses with 5,000 psi working pressure. Type 4 CNG tanks offering 76 DGE of on-board storage are housed under all-aluminum covers that can be easily removed for inspection and service, and thermal pressure-relief devices provide continuous tank protection on all standard configurations.
‘This is our first purchase of CNG-powered mixer trucks,’ says Tim Kurz, Silvi's senior vice president. ‘The price difference between CNG and diesel fuel is significant, and these trucks will provide a strong return on our investment.’
McNeilus and the commercial business unit of parent company Oshkosh have integrated CNG systems into more than 8,000 heavy-duty vehicles over the past eight years.
