Hyundai Motor Co. says the City of Copenhagen has taken delivery of 15 factory-produced ix35 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles – the first fuel cell units from the Hyundai Motor Europe factory floor.
The hydrogen fuel cell ix35 is a compact sport utility vehicle that uses a 100 kW electric motor and two hydrogen storage tanks located at the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle's top speed is about 100 mph, and the range is approximately 370 miles on a single fueling. Denmark's first hydrogen refueling station opened this week in Copenhagen.
Hyundai Motor says it intends to build 1,000 ix35 fuel cell vehicles by 2015. These units will be produced at the company's Ulsan factory in Korea.
