Truck maker Capacity of Texas Inc. says it will begin incorporating Power Solutions International Inc.'s (PSI) alternative fuel, on-highway 8.8-liter engine in its TJ5000 tractor, which is rated at 81,000 lbs. GCW and designed mainly for warehouse and distribution applications.
PSI's 8.8-liter can run on natural gas or propane autogas, and it provides 430 hp and 600 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,400 RPM. The company says this big-block replacement engine offers a 20% improvement in power and 15% better fuel efficiency than the discontinued GM 8.1-liter.
‘This collaboration with PSI helps us to continue pushing the cargo industry forward by offering cost-effective alternative-fuel products that meet the demands of today's market,’ says Phillip Ford, president of Capacity of Texas.
PSI's engine portfolio ranges from .97-liter to 22-liter offerings for industrial and on-highway markets, including medium-duty fleets, delivery trucks, school buses and
garbage/refuse trucks.
