CEC Getting Closer To Funding A Number Of Hydrogen Fueling Stations

0

The California Energy Commission (CEC) has tentatively selected The Linde Group, Air Products and Chemicals Inc., and Hydrogen Frontier Inc. to receive grant funds supporting projects that are aimed at developing hydrogen transportation-fuel infrastructure.

Linde is seeking funds for hydrogen fueling stations in Cupertino and Mountain view, while Hydrogen frontier is pursuing similar projects in Huntington Beach and Lake Forest. Air Products is in line to receive support for projects located Manhattan Beach, Wilmington, Beverly Hills, Agoura Hills, Huntington Beach and Lake Forest.

The state is making up to $18.7 million available for this Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program (ARFVTP) solicitation, through two rounds. Fueling stations selected for an award can also receive performance incentives of up to 15% above the maximum cost share if the applicant uses more than 33% renewable hydrogen at the station or accelerates station completion to within 18 months.

The funding is contingent on project approval during a public CEC meeting (to be announced) and full execution of a grant agreement.
