Himark has licensed its proprietary Integrated bioRefinery patent and its patent-pending ethanol production technology to Western Plains Energy LLC (WPE) in a $15 million transaction.
WPE operates an ethanol production facility in Oakley, Kan., that has an annual output of 50 million gallons. The new intellectual property gives WPE access to anaerobic digestion technology that ‘consumes waste and neutralizes odor of a massive feedlot, as well as other organic wastes,’ Himark says.
The agreement reflects 6 million gallons of anaerobic digestion capacity annually, with the option to expand the plant to over 10 million gallons of capacity, the companies note.
