Laketran, a transit agency that serves Lake County, Ohio, is considering a switch to propane autogas for its Dial-a-Ride shuttle buses in the future.
According to a News-Herald report, the agency has also looked into gasoline and compressed natural gas (CNG) as an alternative to diesel, and a Laketran official says the agency has already decided against CNG because the buses and a refueling station would require a larger investment.
The official says a future switch to propane would reduce costs for fuel and maintenance, as well as reduce the fleet’s emissions.
