Just a few days after announcing that it intended to put more fast-fill compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling capability on the ground in Texas, Love's Travel Stops says it is buying 50 new natural gas vehicles for its own fleet.
The new trucks, which will operate under the Love's Gemini Transport brand, are Freightliner Cascadia Class 8 units that will feature the new 12-liter natural gas engine from Cummins Westport. The NGVs will be integrated into Gemini's fleet of fuel haulers, the company says.
‘We've had great success with the CNG engine in delivering fuel to Love's locations in our home state of Oklahoma,’ says Brent Bergevin, director of transportation for Gemini Transport. ‘The CNG engine has a 450-mile range, and we've seen a significant cost benefit in using CNG as a transportation fuel.’
Gemini will take delivery of the trucks in the fourth quarter of this year through ATC Freightliner in Oklahoma City.
