Westport Innovations Inc. has entered into an agreement with Shell to launch a co-marketing program in North America to consolidate value-chain components in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) vehicles space.
The partnership will involve bringing fuel supply, customer support and maintenance into a single package, the companies say. Under the terms of the agreement, Shell and Westport will leverage their market positions – LNG production and distribution, and LNG vehicle systems and technology, respectively – to deliver an integrated commercial solution. The companies will also collaborate to develop industry standards for LNG as a new transportation fuel.
