Natural gas engine and systems specialist Westport Innovations Inc. has appointed Thomas Rippon vice president, mining and rail. He will be assuming some of the responsibilities of Nick Sonntag, executive vice president of Westport and president of Westport Asia, who retired last week.
Rippon was most recently with CODA Automotive, where he had responsibility for program execution, standardizing process and procedures, and change management. His experience also includes an long tenure at General Motors in both North America and Asia. His career began in 1972 at GM on the assembly line, and from there he was successively promoted – most recently serving as global program manager.
