The U.S. Postal Service has recognized Sheehy Mail Contractors Inc., based in Waterloo, Wis., with its Supplier Innovation Award, which attests to a supplier's ‘innovative efforts that benefit the postal service in a special way.’
In Sheehy Mail Contractors' case, the contribution is the company's commitment to alternative fuels – namely, the 10 compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles that Sheehy has been operating in partnership with the postal service.
Sheehy, which is a member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's SmartWay program, is a family-owned trucking business that is spearheading the USPS' CNG pilot program. The company will soon be adding another 10 NGVs to the fleet that is supporting postal service work.
