Colorado-based UQM Technologies Inc. says it has received new orders from Electric Vehicles International (EVI) for additional PowerPhase HD 220 systems. EVI will use the systems, slated for delivery later this year, to power its all-electric walk-in vans and medium-duty commercial trucks.

Joe Mitchell, chief operating officer and interim president and CEO of UQM Technologies, says, ‘The PowerPhase HD systems offer commercial vehicle manufacturers a range of solutions for building battery-electric and parallel-hybrid vehicles.’

According to the company, the UQM PowerPhase HD electric motors and controllers will be used in EVI vehicles built to meet a variety of needs, including parcel delivery, food and beverage, construction and landscaping. UQM claims the EVI commercial vehicles have a GVW range from Class 4 to Class 5 and offer a scalable system that can achieve up to 90 miles per charge relying on UQM PowerPhase electric propulsion systems.
