Colorado-based UQM Technologies Inc. has announced follow-on orders from Zenith Motors LLC and Ballard Power Systems.
UQM says it has received increased orders for its UQM PowerPhase Pro 135 motor systems from Zenith, a Kentucky-based manufacturer of all-electric shuttle and cargo vans, to meet growing demand from the medium-duty truck delivery market.
‘Zenith has taken the time to do these vehicles right, and now the follow-on orders show their growth in the marketplace,’ comments Joe Mitchell, interim CEO and president of UQM Technologies Inc.
According to UQM, its PowerPhase Pro vehicle electrification product provides a peak torque of 340 Nm, peak power of 135 kW and 60 kW of continuous power.
In addition, the company has received expected follow-on orders for fuel cell compressor modules from Canada-based Ballard Power Systems. UQM says these compressor modules are a key component in hydrogen-powered fuel cell systems used worldwide in Ballard's bus applications. The UQM R410 fuel cell compressor system is designed for up to 150 kW fuel cell stacks.
“UQM recently shipped the first production units of the complete fuel cell compressor system to Ballard,” notes Mitchell.
