Thomas Built Buses Inc. says it is bringing its new propane-powered Type C Saf-T-Liner C2 school bus into full production following initial unit deliveries to select customers.
The propane autogas C2 features an 8.0-liter V8 engine paired with CleanFUEL USA's CARB-certified liquid propane injection system and an Allison 2300 PTS Series transmission. A pair of propane tanks (70 gallons of total capacity) offers approximately 300 miles of driving range.
Thomas Built notes that the propane-powered bus is available with a GVWR of 33,000 lbs and has a capacity of up to 81 passengers.
In addition to the propane-fueled Saf-T-Liner C2, Thomas Built Buses also offers its Type A Minotour bus in compressed natural gas (CNG) and propane configurations, and the Type D Saf-T-Liner HDX in CNG.
