This year's High-Efficiency Truck Users Forum (HTUF), organized by clean transportation group CALSTART, features a unique ride-and-drive component that will pit various vehicles technologies and fleet drivers against one another in a fuel-efficiency challenge.
This year, HTUF takes place in Chicago (on Oct. 7-9), and the ride-and-drive will be held at Soldier Field. On Oct. 8, fleet drivers will compete in a miles-per-gallon challenge that CALSTART has dubbed ‘Hyper-Miling.’
‘Fleets and customers can compete to see who can gain the greatest fuel economy on the road course around Soldier Field. It should make for a great event!’ says Glenn Ellis, vice president of marketing and dealer operations for Hino Trucks, which is sponsoring he ride-and-drive.
Hino itself is bringing its model 195h cab-over hybrid Class 5 truck. Other vehicles to be featured during the ride-and-drive include a Freightliner hybrid-electric M2 106 and natural-gas-powered Cascadia 113 tractor, Volvo Trucks' heavy-duty dimethyl ether concept truck, Ozinga Brothers' Kenworth W-900 CNG-powered concrete mixer truck, and many more.
