Tenaska, an independent energy developer and marketer that ranks among the largest private companies in the U.S., is elbowing its way into the compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueling space for transportation and high-horsepower applications.
A new marketing and development company, Tenaska NG Fuels LLC (TNG Fuels), has been formed to focus on serving these applications. Doug Clark, chairman of NGVAmerica and former president of the Metropolitan Utilities District (MUD) in Omaha, Neb., will lead TNG Fuels.
‘What the industry needs and what we have to offer are a great match – natural gas pipeline and downstream logistics expertise, a strong record of energy project siting and development, and a commitment to customer service in a credit-worthy package,’ says Jerry Crouse, Tenaska CEO and vice chairman.
TNG Fuels intends to concentrate on utilities and customers in the trucking, mining, railroad and other transportation industries.
Clark himself had direct involvement with MUD's initial entrance into the natural gas for transportation arena, having overseen the conversion of a fleet of 200 vehicles from gasoline and diesel to compressed natural gas (CNG) and the development of several public-access refueling stations.
‘Tenaska's message to the NG fuels market is pretty simple: You have options. We are ready to be one of them. And we have a record of delivering value in each of these services,’ Clark says.
