Schindler Elevator Corp. says its North American vehicle fleet will deploy 500 Toyota Prius II hybrid electric vehicles (EVs) over the next three to four years, replacing the majority of its existing fleet of sedans.
In 2010, the company's 2,000+ non-sedan fleet was replaced with the Chevy HHR, which offers an EPA-estimated 32 MPG. These vehicles have saved an average of 2,358 gallons of gasoline per year, Schindler Elevator says.
Schindler Elevator is the North American operation of Switzerland-based Schindler Group, which has 44,000 employees in more than 100 countries.
