Waste and recycling company Republic Services Inc. has deployed 79 new compressed natural gas (CNG) solid waste and recycling trucks in its greater Indianapolis territory.
Republic installed two natural gas refueling stations to support its new fleet of CNG-powered trucks in Indianapolis. The trucks refuel during non-peak hours, which reduces the overall energy consumption of the refueling process.
The company operates a fleet of more than 1,400 CNG vehicles and 26 natural gas fueling stations nationwide. Approximately half of all Republic vehicles purchased in 2013 are powered by natural gas.
