Remy International Inc. has signed an agreement to supply its HVH250 motors to Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide Inc. Quantum will use the motors in its Ford F-150 PHEV program to convert the gasoline-powered light-duty pickup trucks to plug-in hybrid operation.
According to Remy, Quantum will install the Remy HVH250 electric machine as the traction motor into a parallel hybrid system that delivers an all-electric range of 35 miles and a hybrid operational range of 400 miles.
The F-150 PHEV has a payload of up to 900 lbs. and a towing capacity of 5,800 lbs., making it a good choice for truck fleets requiring the performance potential of an-electric drive system combined with the utility value of a light-duty pickup truck, Remy adds.
