Renewable Energy Group (REG) has purchased the former BullDog Biodiesel plant in Ellenwood, Ga., outside of Atlanta for $2.6 million. The multi-feedstock facility, which will operate as REG Atlanta LLC, has a production capacity of 15 million gallons per year.

‘Once repaired, upgraded and restarted, the REG Atlanta facility will offer us additional long-term capacity to meet high-demand diesel markets across the Southeast,’ says Daniel J. Oh, president and CEO of REG.

The company has not set a production date for the restart of the facility, which has run intermittently since January 2008. BullDog ceased operations in April 2012.

REG currently has more than 225 million gallons of annual production capacity at biorefineries across the U.S.
