Proterra Inc., a designer and manufacturer of heavy-duty electric drive systems, says it recently completed the expansion of its Greenville, S.C., production facility, increasing the site's capacity to 400 fast-charge battery-electric buses per year.
Previously, production capacity was less than 100 buses per year, Proterra says. However, the new 220,000 square-foot facility gives the company room for expansion beyond 400 units annually.
Beyond the physical expansion, Proterra has hired 22 new associates since January 1st. These employees bring experience to all areas of the organization, from accounting to manufacturing and engineering, the company says.
