Penske Truck Rental has introduced 85 compressed natural gas (CNG) Freightliner Cascadia semi-tractors, available for commercial rental use in select markets.
These day-cab semi-tractors, equipped with Cummins Westport 12-liter engines, are currently in stock and are ready for rent in Southern California, northern California, Phoenix, Denver, Salt Lake City, Dallas-Fort Worth, Atlanta and Baltimore. Penske says availability will soon spread to Milwaukee and Houston, among other markets.
‘An increasing number of customers have expressed a desire to incorporate natural gas vehicles into their fleets to further reduce emissions,’ says Don Mikes, senior vice president of rentals. He explains that customers can field test the vehicles, and if they decide they want a more permanent solution, they can enter a full-service lease.
