California-based Omnitek Engineering Corp. has received an order to provide a 12-cylinder, 600 kW natural gas power generator for the NatGas Bernardo Quintana compressed natural gas (CNG) station in Queretaro, Mexico. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Omnitek says its generator will provide an uninterrupted source of electric power for the fueling station, which has the capacity to serve an anticipated 200 CNG buses and 1,000 taxi vehicles per day.

‘The utilization of Omnitek's technology for powering CNG fueling requirements at this facility further expands the application of our natural gas technology and complements our primary focus on engine conversions for fleet vehicles – including buses and heavy-duty trucks,” says Werner Funk, president and CEO of Omnitek Engineering Corp.

Omnitek further says the “rapid adoption of natural gas in Mexico bodes well” for the company.
