The Eugene, Ore.-based Lane Transit District (LTD) has awarded New Flyer Industries Inc. a contract to supply up to 20 heavy-duty Xcelsior diesel-electric hybrid buses.
The contract includes a firm order for seven 60-foot XDE60 buses and options for an additional 13 buses within the next five years. Over the last decade, New Flyer says it has built 29 60-foot diesel and diesel-electric hybrid buses for Lane Transit.
“We are honored to continue to build our environmentally friendly diesel-electric hybrid Xcelsior buses for Lane Transit,” says Paul Soubry, New Flyer's president and CEO. “Lane Transit has proven to be a leader in providing green transportation to their annual ridership of over 11 million customers.”
Hi LTD, I was wondering if your hybrid buses are a parallel hybrid bus or a series hybrid bus. Series hybrids are more for urban use because they fare better for stop-and-go in town.
