Lancer Automotive Group, a Salt Lake City-based provider of alternative fuel conversions, has announced a non-exclusive installation partnership and distribution agreement with XL Hybrids, a developer of hybrid-electric powertrain technology.

Under the deal, Lancer Automotive will add XL Hybrids' XL3 hybrid-electric drive system product line to its roster of alternative technologies, which already includes compressed natural gas, liquid natural gas and electric vehicle products.

‘XL Hybrids' powertrain technology makes economic sense for our fleet customers, offering a solid return on investment,” says Scott Brandeberry, vice president at Lancer Automotive Group. ‘This agreement paves the way for the fleets we serve to boost fuel economy and reduce total lifecycle costs, while supporting their sustainability goals.’

XL Hybrids says its patent-pending XL3 system installs in about six hours and is available for GM and Ford passenger and cargo vans, as well as cutaways and stripped chassis.

‘This agreement with Lancer Automotive Group is part of our long-term strategy to make our hybrid-electric powertrain accessible to fleets across the country,’ explains Clay Siegert, vice president and co-founder of XL Hybrids. ‘Our growing network of upfitters will give fleet managers greater confidence that they can turn to trusted resources with convenient service locations.’
