Crosspoint Kinetics, a subsidiary of Cummins Crosspoint LLC, has announced that its flagship electric hybrid system qualifies for voucher funding through the Drive Clean Chicago program.
Owners and operators of Class 3-7 bus and light-duty truck fleets that run in the Chicago area can now get up to 80% of the cost of the Kinetics Hybrid system reimbursed as part of the program.
Fourteen-million dollars has been earmarked for the Drive Clean Chicago program, with funding through the Chicago Department of Transportation and resources from the federal Congestion Mitigation Air Quality program. To qualify for the grant, vehicles must be converted to all-electric or hybrid electric and must spend at least 75% of their time operating in Chicago.
“These vouchers are a great way for fleets to go green and reduce vehicle pollution around Chicago,” says John McNichols, product director for Crosspoint Kinetics. “With a Kinetics Hybrid for under $9,000, fleets will be able to see a substantial return on their investment in a year or less, meaning that it really does pay to be environmentally conscious.”
