GE and Juice Technologies say they are jointly developing plug-in electric vehicle charging devices that will integrate GE's smart meters with Juice Technology's Plug Smart engine.
‘These chargers will help consumers use electric cars as cost-effectively as possible, speeding their adoption,’ says Bob Gilligan, vice president, transmission and distribution, for GE Energy Services.
GE will offer a line of charging products that combine its smart meter and communication technologies with Juice Technologies' patent-pending intelligent charging solutions. The chargers will be available in the U.S. in the second quarter of this year, with full-scale production ramping up throughout 2010.
