FirstElement Fuel and Black & Veatch are teaming up to add 19 hydrogen refueling stations across the state of California.
Black & Veatch signed a master services agreement with FirstElement to provide permitting, engineering, procurement and construction services for the project, which is the first stage of a comprehensive program for constructing a state-wide hydrogen fueling infrastructure network.
It is the single largest deployment of hydrogen fueling stations in the U.S., the companies claim. All stations will be completed in 2015.
Toyota, which will introduce its hydrogen fuel cell vehicle in model year 2015 in California, has provided FirstElement Fuel with loans for the project. The company also received a $27.6 million grant from the California Energy Commission.
