Propane company Ferrellgas Partners LP has named Boyd H. McGathey executive vice president and chief operating officer, responsible for overseeing Ferrellgas and Blue Rhino, Ferrell North America's commodity risk management and wholesale sales business unit, and Ferrellgas Partners' safety and marketing departments.
McGathey re-joined Ferrellgas in March 2011 as senior vice president of retail operations. Prior to that, he was the West division president at Inergy Propane, a role he assumed following the sale of Liberty Propane to Inergy in December 2009. McGathey was a partner and chief operating officer of Liberty Propane.
He began his career in the propane industry with Ferrellgas in 1989 and served in various roles, including market manager, area manager, region vice president and chief operating officer.
