VIA Motors has appointed Bob Lutz, former vice chairman of General Motors and a board member of VIA Motors, board chairman of the electric vehicle (EV) company.
Lutz helped launch the Chevy Volt before retiring from GM in 2010 and has held other senior leadership positions at Ford, Chrysler and BMW. He is replacing retiring chairman Carl Berg, who has served since VIA started in 2009 and continues to be the company's largest shareholder.
‘If we are going to see mainstream adoption of electric vehicles, the technology must deliver a good return on investment to the largest segment of the auto business, namely trucks, vans and SUVs,” says Lutz. “That's why I am so confident in VIA, and I'm pleased to serve as chairman.”
