Enova Systems Inc., a developer of electric and hybrid-electric drive systems for commercial vehicles, says Smith Electric Vehicles Corp. has placed additional orders for Enova's drive-system components.
Smith, which builds the Newton and Edison electric vehicles in facilities in Kansas City, Mo., and Newcastle, U.K., has already produced ‘several hundred’ units that incorporate Enova's components, the company says.
Neither firm has noted how many additional units will be built through this expanded partnership. However, Smith recently said it would begin offering an all-electric Newton school bus that will have a range of 100 miles and a top speed of 50 mph.
