Containerships Ltd.'s first liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered trucks in the U.K. are now being refueled at BOC's new station in Teesport, Middlesbrough.

Opened recently by BOC, a member of The Linde Group, the station is designed to serve 10 dual-fuel (LNG and diesel) BOC vehicles transporting industrial gases. Containerships Ltd. is the first third party to sign up to access the facility.

With support funding from Innovate UK, Containerships Ltd. has invested in two dual-fuel LNG trucks, with an option to buy more vehicles following initial successful trials.

“We are confident that LNG will be the fuel of the future for both trucking and shipping purposes and are delighted to join together with BOC at the forefront of LNG dual-fuel truck development in the U.K.,” says Andrew Frost, managing director of Containerships Ltd.
